Her career life has included an executive level position performing business development and marketing for a small aerospace and energy company (five years), creative design and product conceptualization, training and development, supply chain analysis and value stream mapping, proposal development, government and commercial pricing, contract negotiation, national and local account management, strategic planning and development, change management and exceptional internal and external communication.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Identified the solicitation and led the proposal team that produced Red Canyon Software’s (RCS) first direct NASA contract to develop the MarsFlight Educational Software Simulator. MarsFlight will be in NASA locations, exhibits and in 2500 classrooms across the United States. The work on this contract led to two additional NASA contracts to develop Phase II of MarsFlight and develop LunarSim, an educational simulation where students land and then build a habitat on the moon.
  • Teamed with CHEP executives to negotiate and close a five year contract term valued just under $100 million
  • Tasked at CHEP to close ConAgra's operating companies on an individual basis, selling to executives at the respective operating companies, as well as ConAgra corporate. Development efforts resulted in expansion and subsequent management of CHEP's services, growing revenue from $1 million to over $28 million annually, making ConAgra CHEP's 3rd largest customer.
  • Investigated specific legal issues for Nexus Media, then defined and successfully gained approval with the State of Colorado for on-premise nontraditional alcohol advertising, setting a precedent in state law for future advertising mediums
  • Marketed RCS’ past performance and capabilities to secure a display case for Denver International Airport’s six-month 2007 exhibit: Colorado in Space: Our Heritage, Our Future on the A Concourse at no cost to RCS. RCS was one of two small businesses selected to participate in this exhibit with aerospace giants such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Raytheon and Ball Aerospace
  • Optimized customer growth at CHEP through evaluating their supply chain and developing an activity based model (ABCM), presenting the model and a cost effective plan of action to c-level and v-level executives. Based on the success of this sales strategy was commissioned to join a five person team to develop and teach ABCM and CHEP 102 for sales to 75+ new sales employees
  • Developed the concept for a children’s Personalized Education Application System (PEAS), formed a team and wrote a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) contract to NSF, receiving a letter of support from LeapFrog
  • Procured a third party Defense Contractors' Audit Agency (DCAA) consultant for RCS and was responsible to achieve DCAA accounting system compliance and DCAA approved rates, which were both subsequently approved
  • Developed a business plan, revenue model and preliminary marketing strategies for a subsidiary entertainment portal website for Nexus Media to include search engine optimization and measure components

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education

  • Metro Denver’s Wired (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) Initiative: Ms. Jones has been an active participant on two panels for this critical workforce and STEM education initiative and opportunity for Metro Denver’s workforce. Metro Denver was selected to receive this four-year $15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to implement transformational and sustainable changes in Metro Denver’s education and workforce systems to enhance its region’s global competitiveness. Ms. Jones was on the initial aerospace panel to share the workforce challenges in the local aerospace communities and assist in developing the solicitation to ensure the workforce needs for aerospace were being addressed. She is currently on WIRED’s 2010 panel. The focus of this panel is to develop strategies for follow on funding, as well as ensuring that the grantees continue to develop their programs upon termination of the grant funding.
  • FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC): FRC presents high school students with the engineering challenge and opportunity to build a robot from a kit a parts and then compete with other schools in pre-designed competitions. Ms. Jones has volunteered for Colorado FIRST for four years. Two of these years she had the rewarding experience as the Assistant Judge, turning pages of judges “engineer speak” into customized award announcements that would entertain and excite students, parents and engineers alike for the FIRST Robotics’ regional competition in Denver.
  • MarsFlight STEM Education and Public Outreach: Ms. Jones utilized the MarsFlight educational software simulator to engage Red Canyon in STEM related activities. She managed speaking engagements for her CEO at Colorado middle schools with College in Colorado and WB2 News, as well as gaining feature display exhibits, such as the Robotics Expo at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
